In 2016, a young Afghan named Omar made the heart-wrenching choice to flee his war-torn country and was joined by journalist Matthieu Aikin, who left his passport behind in order to go underground with Omar on the refugee trail and chronicle their dangerous journey to Europe. On their travels from Afghanistan to Europe they came across smugglers, cops, activists, and men, women, and children fleeing war in search of a better life.
